Do you need to answer these kinds of questions from your constituents and bosses?

  • How do I to take these TIGER maps and make them into a linear reference system?
  • Can I map a GIS map from a satellite photo?
  • Is it possible to make a GIS map using a GPS?
  • I've got these maps, can I use them in RoadSoft or some other GIS system?

Who is Mr. GenS?

Map Reference Generation System takes any map and generates a linearly referenced map using the geographic coordinate system of your choice. For RoadSoft, this means that we can adapt your jurisdiction's existing maps or make new maps to work with RoadSoft. We can also make linearly-referenced maps for use in other GIS systems.

So why do you need your maps linearly referenced? Well, how do you describe where your house is? Is it at 41.94822N -87.65536W , or is it 1/4 mile north of the intersection of Main and Fourth?

MrGenS interprets 41.94822N -87.65536W to show you the location of your house on a graphical map. This is how MrGenS references the GPS position of a culvert, sign, or intersection to a graphical map so that you can describe your assets' locations in a language that you and your maintenance staff can understand.
