Introduction

As mentioned in the Roadsoft RoundUp Volume 8 #2 [1], as of Roadsoft 6.8.2, our users are able to view the Michigan UD10 Crash Report imagery from within the RoadSoft Crash and Safety Module:

Because the UD10 imagery for most jurisdictions is too large to include on the installation CDs, the imagery is served on-demand over the Internet.  As such, there are some things you must configure in RoadSoft before you'll be able to access your jurisdiction's UD10 imagery.  This page hopes to walk you through the configuration process.

Setup

  1. Install and configure RoadSoft (consult your installation documentation)
  2. Import your crash data (consult the RoadSoft Help)
  3. Create a www.roadsoft.org [2] username and password (if you don't already have one.)
  4. Verify and bind your roadsoft.org username to your jurisdiction's crash data - you must contact us directly to verify this.  We must verify that your online account binds to the real you. Unfortunately, this is the slowest part of the process as it involves a phone call with us.
  5. In RoadSoft, specify your roadsoft.org username/password by going to the Tools -> Options menu.

Once you've finished these steps, then when you're in the Crash and Safety Module you'll be view the UD10 images for the selected crash(es) by clicking the Download UD10 button.  RoadSoft will retrieve the appropriate UD10 image from roadsoft.org and display it for you.

Extra Notes

Imagery Availability Notes

The UD10 imagery is delivered to us from the state of Michigan.  Once it is copied to our servers, it is processed into a format that suits our behind-the-scenes processes. The processing is relatively quick per file, but with the large amount of crash data, as a whole, the process can take a significant amount of time.

Images for the entire state are available for the years 2004, 2005, 2006 and 2007.  Images for 2002, 2003 may be available in the future.  Please contact [2]us if you have an immediate need for 2002 or 2003 imagery.
